Product Information

Name:
Monobutyl Phthalate Copper(II) Salt
Synonyms:
  • Phthalic acid mono-n-butyl ester cupric salt
Description:

Monobutyl Phthalate Copper(II) Salt (MBPC) is a lipoxygenase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice. MBPC inhibits the production of leukocytes and decreases the production of reactive oxygen species by leukocytes, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects. MBPC has also been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis. The synthesis of MBPC requires 2 steps: the first step involves the reaction of butyric acid with copper oxide in alkaline solution, followed by treatment with sodium hydroxide to produce monobutyltincopper(II)salt.
