Description:
Tert-nonyl mercaptan is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that has been shown to have inhibitory effects on cancer cells. It is an incremental agent that can be used to modify the properties of model complexes and has been shown to be effective at inhibiting the growth of bacteria. Tert-nonyl mercaptan is synthesized by reacting n-butyl mercaptan with tertiary butyl chloride. This compound has been shown to increase the energy efficiency of nanomaterials in water. The low detection limit of this compound makes it suitable for enzymatic methods, such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, which can be used for detecting minute amounts of organic compounds in water or wastewater.
