1,4-Bis(1,2-dibromoethyl)benzene is a vinyl compound that is prepared by the condensation of two equivalents of triethylamine with one equivalent of brominated vinylbenzene in the presence of a base. It can be used to modify other compounds and has been used in the preparation of a number of biologically active substances. 1,4-Bis(1,2-dibromoethyl)benzene is found as an isolated compound or as part of functional groups such as thiosemicarbazide, methanolysis, and isothiouronium. This chemical also has the ability to form organic halides with halides.
