1,3-Thiazol-2-ylformamide is a synthetic retinoid that has been shown to have anticancer activity in vivo. It inhibits the growth of urothelial carcinoma by binding to the DNA polymerase and blocking the synthesis of RNA and DNA. 1,3-Thiazol-2-ylformamide also inhibits the proliferation of bladder cancer cells by activating epidermal growth factor receptor signaling pathways. 1,3-Thiazol-2-ylformamide has not been found to be carcinogenic in CD1 mice or in human bladder cancer cell lines.
