Product Information
2-Methoxy-5-nitrobenzene-1,4-diamine is a sulfonamide that can be used as an antimicrobial agent against bacteria. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 30S subunit and inhibiting the transfer of aminoacyl-tRNA from the A site to the P site on the ribosome. 2-Methoxy-5-nitrobenzene-1,4-diamine also binds with metal ions and prevents them from catalyzing reactions in which they are involved. This drug has been shown to have a high degree of toxicity in mice and rats, as well as a low degree of toxicity in humans. In mice, this drug caused liver s9 sulfonation, which may be due to its ability to form adducts with glutathione or nucleophilic groups. The molecular descriptors for this drug are amines, molecule, and azobenzene.
