6,7-Dichloroquinoxaline-2,3(1H,4H)-dione is a drug that binds to the glutamate receptor and blocks the action of glutamate. It has been shown to be effective in treating chronic schizophrenia and is thought to work by blocking glutamate receptors in the brain. 6,7-Dichloroquinoxaline-2,3(1H,4H)-dione inhibits mitochondrial function and protein synthesis in rat striatal tissue. This drug also has antinociceptive properties and its effects on rats have been observed using both behavioural tests and nmr spectra.
