Product Information

Name:
Methyl 1-benzylpiperidine-3-carboxylate
Synonyms:
  • 3-Piperidinecarboxylic acid, 1-(phenylmethyl)-, methyl ester
Description:

Methyl 1-benzylpiperidine-3-carboxylate is a neurotoxin that causes Parkinson's disease, which is characterized by the death of dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra. It has been shown to bind to dopamine receptors and inhibit neurotransmission. The biological activity of methyl 1-benzylpiperidine-3-carboxylate was demonstrated as a result of its ability to inhibit the binding of oxadiazole derivatives, which are ligands for these receptors. Methyl 1-benzylpiperidine-3-carboxylate also has an agonistic effect on oxadiazole analogues and increases their biological activity.
