Product Information
4-acetylindole is a cancer cell disruptor that is structurally related to colchicine. It binds to the microtubules and inhibits their formation, which leads to cell death. 4-acetylindole has been shown to be cytotoxic in vitro against k562 cells and has also been shown to inhibit mitochondrial respiration. The mechanism by which 4-acetylindole exerts its effects on cancer cells is not well understood, but it may involve formylation of the indole nucleus or binding of the molecule to the colchicine receptor site on the microtubule.
