Product Information
6-Hydroxy-2-methylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid is a natural compound that is oxidized by an oxidation catalyst to form 2,6-dimethylpyridine. The enzyme activities of 6-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid have been studied using various kinetic methods. It has been shown to be a synthetase inhibitor and can also act as an allyl transfer agent for polymerization reactions. This compound has shown to be effective in the inhibition of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains and S. aureus strains with reduced susceptibility to vancomycin. 6-Hydroxy Quinoline 4 carboxylic acid is also effective against other bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex.
