Description:

9-Decenyl acetate is a reactive, short-chain fatty acid that is derived from the natural product decalactone. It has been shown to inhibit mosquito larvae and human pathogens, including those with antibiotic resistance. 9-Decenyl acetate inhibits the growth of bacteria by reacting with fatty acids in the cell membrane and preventing the formation of new cells. This compound also inhibits metathesis reactions that are involved in bacterial cell division. It can be used as a detergent additive or for microencapsulation.
