Product Information

Name:
6-Iodoquinoxaline
Description:

6-Iodoquinoxaline is an electron-rich heterocycle that can be oxidized to a radical anion. It has a redox potential of +1.6 V, which is higher than the standard hydrogen electrode (-0.4 V), and it has been shown to cleave bonds in organic molecules. 6-Iodoquinoxaline is also used as a radionuclide for positron emission tomography imaging because of its short half-life (1.8 hours). 6-Iodoquinoxaline has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to other quinolones such as ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin. It has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV, and ribosomal RNA. The reaction products of 6-iodoquinoxaline are diprotonated and dimethylformamide, which have been shown not to be toxic or mut
