4,3'-Dimethoxybenzophenone is a chemical intermediate that can be used in the production of benzophenones. It is a slurry that has a boiling point of about 170°C and can be dissolved in 2-propanol and ethanol. 4,3'-Dimethoxybenzophenone can be produced industrially by reacting methanol with hydrogen chloride in the presence of catalysts such as palladium on carbon. The industrial application of 4,3'-dimethoxybenzophenone includes its use as a catalyst for hydrogenation reactions and as an intermediate to produce other chemicals such as benzophenones.
