Product Information
Methyl 4-((trimethylsilyl)ethynyl)benzoate is a synthetic retinoid that is used in the synthesis of other compounds. It is a colorless, crystalline solid with a pyridine ring and fluorescence. This compound has shown to be useful for the synthesis of new synthetic retinoids. Methyl 4-((trimethylsilyl)ethynyl)benzoate has also been shown to have fingerprint, herringbone, and dihedral conformations due to its hydrogen bonds and dioxolane.
Methyl 4-((trimethylsilyl)ethynyl)benzoate reacts with nitro groups to form the corresponding N-nitroso derivative. The nature of this reaction is not known but it may be happening through an intramolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction.
