Description:

Bay R is a carboxylic acid that inhibits the growth of fungi by disrupting the cell membrane. It is used as an anti-fungal agent and has been shown to have activity against Blastomyces dermatitidis, Histoplasma capsulatum, Aspergillus fumigatus, and Candida albicans. Bay R is also effective against avian influenza virus, which infects birds and mammals, including humans. The efficacy of Bay R for treatment of infectious diseases may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of RNA in eukaryotic cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis or by binding to RNA polymerase.
