Nitric acid, lutetium(3+) salt, hydrate (9CI) is a stable, water-soluble peroxide that has been shown to be resistant to oxidation. The compound can be used as an oxidizing agent in the production of semiconductors and as a chemical reagent in organic synthesis. Lutetium nitrate can also be used as a luminescent material for microscopy and optical purposes. The compound has been shown to have proton conductivity properties. Lutetium nitrate has been shown to emit light when irradiated with ultraviolet light or X-rays. This product is an insulator and ferroelectric material which displays low bulk density and high optical properties.
