Description

(±)-CPP is a member of the group of fatty acid amides. It has been shown to have antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties. (±)-CPP has been shown to bind to the fatty acid binding site on the 5-HT3 receptor, which is involved in pain transmission. Other studies have shown that (±)-CPP inhibits glutamate release from nerve terminals, suggesting that it may have therapeutic effects for neurological disorders such as epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. The (-) form of CPP is more potent than the (+) form at inhibiting calcium ion influx into cells, which may be due to its greater stability. The molecule does not require a disulfide bond for activity.
