2-Methyl-5-nitrophenylboronic acid is a potent inhibitor of the human perforin protein and has shown immunosuppressive properties. It has been shown to inhibit perforin protein production in vitro and in vivo, as well as reduce the expression of other genes involved in immune function. The pharmacokinetic properties of 2-methyl-5-nitrophenylboronic acid have been studied in vivo in rats with allografts, showing that it is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and eliminated rapidly by metabolism.
