This molecule can be used as a ligand in biomolecular studies because of its ability to coordinate to metals such as calcium and magnesium. 2-Ethynyl-4-nitroaniline has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
