2-Ethynyl-4-nitroaniline is a nonlinear molecule with a centrosymmetric conformation. It has two terminal alkynes, which are in the same plane as the nitro group. The molecule has an optical rotation of +0.36°, which is due to its conformational and inorganic nature. This molecule can be used as a ligand in biomolecular studies because of its ability to coordinate to metals such as calcium and magnesium. 2-Ethynyl-4-nitroaniline has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. In addition, this compound also has chromophores that absorb light at wavelengths between 350 nm and 400 nm.
