Product Information

Name:
Amsilarotene (tac-101)
Description:

Amsilarotene is a basic protein that belongs to the class of pharmacological agents. It is an analog of all-trans retinoic acid, which is used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and some types of cancer. Amsilarotene binds to the receptor for epidermal growth factor (EGF), which stimulates cell proliferation and differentiation. Amsilarotene also has anti-cancer activity, as it inhibits microvessel density in cervical cancer cells and reduces tumor size in mice with carcinoma cell lines. This drug has been shown to have a metabolic rate similar to that of natural retinoids, including all-trans retinoic acid. The amsilarotene molecule contains two ester linkages that are hydrolyzed by esterases during metabolism.
