Product Information
2-Bromo-6-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)benzaldehyde (BPB) is a widely used electrophilic aromatic substitution reagent. It is a nucleophilic addition agent that can be used to synthesize vinylogous and alkenyl compounds. BPB reacts with an electron-deficient alkene or alkyne to form a 1,2,3-triazole or 1,2,3-triazole ring system respectively. This reaction can be performed in the presence of an organic solvent such as acetonitrile or dichloromethane. The synthesis of tetrahydroquinolines is also possible using BPB as the nucleophile. BPB has been used medicinally to treat tuberculosis and malaria.
