Product Information

Name:
11,13-Dihydroivalin
Description:

11,13-Dihydroivalin is a cytotoxic and antibacterial compound that belongs to the group of dittrichia natural products. It has been isolated from an Australian plant called involucrata. 11,13-Dihydroivalin inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. The molecule also has antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as dittrichia and lactones. 11,13-Dihydroivalin is a sesquiterpene lactone that can be found in plants like graveolens (lavender) or Eudesma manolides.
11,13-Dihydroivalin is not active against acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex.
