Product Information
Quipazine is a selective agonist for the 5-HT1A receptor, which may be responsible for its anti-depressant effects. It also has some affinity for the 5-HT2 receptors. Quipazine is used in the treatment of bone cancer and is thought to act by inhibiting the uptake of calcium ions from the cytosol into bone cells. Quipazine has been shown to inhibit the transcription of DNA and RNA, leading to decreased production of proteins that regulate energy metabolism and neurotransmitter release. The drug also inhibits glutamate uptake and leads to an increase in dopamine levels, which may account for its effects on mood. Quipazine dimaleate is an antagonist at cell surface receptors that bind with serotonin and prevents it from binding to other receptors. This prevents serotonin from stimulating other cells in order to produce a response.
