Product Information
Acetyl-L-erythro-sphingosine is a glycan that has been shown to be involved in the regulation of metabolic disorders. It has also been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. Acetyl-L-erythro-sphingosine is a substrate for phosphatases and can be used as a probe for the detection of mammalian cell protein glycosylation. The monoclonal antibodies generated against this compound have been shown to bind to Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and activate macrophages, which are immune cells that play an important role in the inflammatory response. Acetyl-L-erythro-sphingosine was found to be effective against HIV infection in animal studies, by preventing the fusion of HIV with the host cell membrane, thereby preventing infection.
