Description

Perospirone is a drug that is used in the treatment of schizophrenia. It is a serotonin receptor antagonist that blocks the serotonin 5-HT2A, 5-HT2C, and 5-HT7 receptors. Perospirone also has neuroprotective effects, which may be due to its ability to protect against neuronal death through enhancing neurotrophic factors such as nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor. Perospirone has been shown to have antibacterial activity against infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy.
