Description:

2-Methyl-5-phenylfuran-3-carbonyl chloride is a nutritional agent. It has been shown to be a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to 2-methyl-5-phenyloxazoline, which is less toxic and more water soluble. 2-Methyl-5-phenylfuran-3-carbonyl chloride is a monohydric molecule with low molecular weight that can permeate the skin and blood brain barrier. It has been shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes COX2 and COX1, which have been implicated in inflammation. This drug also has the ability to solubilize due to its low molecular weight and high water solubility.
2-Methyl-5 phenylfuran 3 carbonyl chloride has been used as an injectable solution, prodrug, and orally as a solubilized form of medication for inflammatory conditions such as arthritis
