Indeno[1,2-c]pyrazol-4(1H)-one is a heterocyclic compound that can be found in salt form. It is the parent compound of a series of compounds that have been shown to have anticancer activity. Indeno[1,2-c]pyrazol-4(1H)-ones are competitive inhibitors of enzymes involved in the synthesis and degradation of regulatory subunits. The drugs inhibit the cell cycle by inhibiting cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs). Inhibition of CDKs leads to cell cycle arrest at the G1/S phase transition and apoptosis induction. Indeno[1,2-c]pyrazol-4(1H)-ones are also potent inhibitors of human serum c1-4 alkyl sulfate reductase, which is an enzyme responsible for synthesizing cholesterol from its precursor sterols.
