Product Information

Name:
2-Hydroxy-3-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propanoic acid
Description:

2-Hydroxy-3-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propanoic acid (HATPA) is a chemical intermediate that is used in the production of organic solvents and corrosion inhibitors. HATPA can be synthesized by reacting gluconic acid with nitric acid. In organic synthesis, HATPA is used as a solvent for carboxylic acids and esters. It has been shown to have the ability to inhibit corrosion in coatings and is often used as a corrosion inhibitor for steel. HATPA also has glycolic, citric, and malic acid properties which make it suitable for use as an additive in food products such as juices or soft drinks.
