6-Amino-2-(but-1-yl)-1,3-benzoxazole is an anticonvulsant drug that belongs to the class of butyrophenones. The maximal effective dose (MED) and median effective dose (ED50) were determined in mice, rats, and rabbits. It has been shown to have an anticonvulsant effect in various tests, including subcutaneous injection, intraperitoneal injection, pentylenetetrazole test, electroshock test, and rotarod test. 6-Amino-2-(but-1-yl)-1,3-benzoxazole has a neurotoxic effect at high doses. Its potency is found to be higher than carbamazepine in some animal models.
