Product Information
8-Bromoadenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphothiaoate (8-BrAMP) is an inhibitor of cycloheximide, the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of cyclohexanemethanol to cycloheximide. It has been shown to inhibit HIV infection by preventing the synthesis of dopamine β-hydroxylase and atrial natriuretic factor, which are essential for viral replication. 8-BrAMP also inhibits axonal growth and whole cell recordings in hl-60 cells. This compound has also been shown to induce apoptosis in papillary muscle cells through increased levels of TNF-α and activated caspase 3. 8-BrAMP inhibits caffeine induced atrial contractions in isolated rat hearts by inhibiting adenosine receptors on the surface of cardiac myocytes. This drug also prevents congestive heart failure due to its ability to increase cardiac contractility, as well as increasing intracellular cAMP
