Product Information
Liproxstatin-1 is a reactive oxygen species (ROS) inhibitor that is synthesized by the liver. It prevents ROS-induced cellular injury and death caused by oxidative stress. Liproxstatin-1 has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential and induce autophagy in cells. The intracellular targets of this drug are mitochondria and the cell death pathway, which may be due to inhibition of ROS production and increased levels of ROS scavengers such as glutathione. Liproxstatin-1 also inhibits hepatic steatosis by preventing lipid accumulation in hepatocytes, which is caused by suppression of the transcriptional upregulation of lipogenic enzymes. This drug can also form disulfide bonds with other proteins, inhibiting their activities.
