Product Information
Methyl 2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyrimidine-4-carboxylate (MOP) is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). MOP has been shown to inhibit MMP-9 activity in t84 cells and neuronal death in vivo. It also has a strong effect on human immunoglobulin synthesis. In vitro studies have shown that MOP binds to toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and may be used as a model organism for bowel disease. MOP is active against Gram positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Listeria monocytogenes, and Bacillus subtilis. It also shows antimicrobial activity against HIV infection and may be used as a therapeutic agent for primary cells.
