3,4-Dichloropyridine-2-carboxamide is an aliphatic hydroxamic acid that can be synthesized from the reaction of 3,4-dichloropyridine and hydroxylamine. This compound has been shown to have a high yield in a short time. It has been used as a reagent for the synthesis of amides and acetaldoxime derivatives by thiocyanation. 3,4-Dichloropyridine-2-carboxamide also reacts with copper to form copper thiocyanate, which is used in analytical chemistry. This compound contains functional groups including an amide NH group and two aliphatic CH groups.
