Product Information
2,8-Dimethyl-5-phenethyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido[4,3-b]indole is a potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV). DPPIV is a serine protease that cleaves insulin and other prohormones at the amino acid dipeptide bond. The inhibition of DPPIV by 2,8-dimethyl-5-phenethyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-pyrido[4,3-b]indole leads to an increase in blood levels of proinsulin and insulin. This compound has been used as a research tool to study protein interactions and as a ligand for receptor studies. It has also been used as a reagent for antibody production.
