3-Cyanooxetane is a chiral oxetane that has been used as a building block in the synthesis of other organic compounds. It is prepared by the reaction of titanium tetrachloride and ethyl acetate, followed by hydrolysis. 3-Cyanooxetane can be synthesized from the reaction of pyrrolidine with ketimine. 3-Cyanooxetane is also an intermediate in the synthesis of various other compounds such as indole, indolizines, and benzoxazines.
