Ethyl 3-bromo-1-(3-chloropyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylate is a diamide insecticide that has been shown to be effective against a number of insects. It blocks the activation of ryanodine receptors by binding to the receptor and blocking the passage of calcium through the membrane. This results in increased levels of intracellular calcium and death. The insecticidal activity of this molecule may also be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, which is involved in the production of purines and pyrimidines.
