2,6-Bis(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)isonicotinic acid is a homoleptic ligand that binds to the metal ion and stabilizes it. It has been shown to shift solar cells from the UV region to the visible region, making them more efficient. 2,6-Bis(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)isonicotinic acid has also been used in x-ray absorption spectroscopy as a stabilizer for metal ions. The compound is also used in organic chemistry as a ligand and sensitizer. The ligand can be either monosubstituted or tetradentate, with biphenyl or pyridine being common substituents.
