Product Information
2-(Thiazol-4-yl)acetic acid hydrochloride is an inhibitor of platelet aggregation. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of blood platelet aggregation in vitro, and inhibits the formation of a thrombus in vivo. This compound is also an inhibitor of coagulation, which is the process that leads to clotting. It has been shown to inhibit both the enzymatic activity of prothrombin and the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin. 2-(Thiazol-4-yl)acetic acid hydrochloride also prevents the release of ADP from erythrocytes by binding to its receptor on the cell membrane surface. Finally, this drug can be converted into methyl 2-(thiazol-4-yl)acetate (MTAA), which is a metabolite with antiplatelet properties.
