Product Information
- Benzene, 1,3-bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-
1,3-Di-tert-butylbenzene is a chemical compound that is used as an analytical reagent in the study of metabolic profiles. It has been shown to have antimicrobial effects against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. 1,3-Di-tert-butylbenzene can be used to diagnose cancer or other diseases by observing the metabolic profile of urine samples. It reacts with hydrochloric acid to form tertiary amines, which are then reacted with sodium carbonate to form a protonated derivative. This derivative reacts with tissue culture cells in a flow system and can be detected by solid phase microextraction (SPME) on a hydrocarbon substrate. The activation energies for this reaction were found to be between -7.5 and -6.5 kcal/mol, making it possible to distinguish between different types of cancer diagnosis based on their metabolic profiles.
