Product Information
Androstenetriol is a metabolite of androstenedione, which is found in the urine. It has been shown to be an indicator for the use of anabolic steroids. Androstenetriol is synthesized from androstenedione by aromatase, which converts C19 androgens to C18 estrogens. The enzyme aromatase also reduces testosterone to androstenediol. Androstenetriol can be detected in urine samples using mass spectrometry or magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The molecule's structure can be determined using electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. ESR spectroscopy can also be used to determine the presence of metabolites that are not present in the sample, such as reduction products, which are formed when androstenedione is reduced by cytochrome P450 reductase enzymes to its corresponding alcohols, including androsterone. These metabolites can also be determined using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR
