Product Information
- Isoxazole, 5-methyl-4-nitro-
- 4-Nitro-5-methylisoxazole
5-Methyl-4-nitroisoxazole (5MIO) is a synthetic isoxazole that has been used as a precursor in the preparation of other isoxazoles. The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of 5MIO with hydroxylamine forms the corresponding nitro compound, which can be reduced to the corresponding amine. This reaction is often used in preparative methods for bioactive compounds, such as nitrite and functional groups. Preparation of 5MIO has also been shown to be an effective method for drug development.
