Product Information
- 2-Phenylpyridine N-Oxide
2-Phenylpyridine 1-oxide (2PPO) is a synthetic, allene with a substituent on the pyridine ring. It has been shown to react with magnesium and diffraction to form 2PPO n-oxide. The reaction mechanism of 2PPO is due to dehydrohalogenation, which occurs when the substituent on the pyridine ring removes a hydrogen atom from the halogen group. The regioselectivity of this reaction is determined by the presence or absence of electron withdrawing groups that are in close proximity to the substituted pyridine.
