Description:
1-Nitro-4-(phenylsulfonyl)benzene is a sulfoxide that is synthesized by the reaction of phenylsulfonyl chloride and nitrobenzene. This compound has been shown to have antagonistic activities against 5-ht6 receptors, which are linked to anxiety and depression. It also shows promising photoelectrochemical properties in acetonitrile. The crystallography of this compound has been studied by x-ray diffraction. The yields of the two crystalline forms are 27% and 63%.
