N-Formyl-L-lysine is the acetylated form of L-lysine. It is a derivative of lysine, an amino acid that can be found in proteins and peptides. N-Formyl-L-lysine has been shown to have minimal activity when used as a dietary supplement. The drug has also been found to be a byproduct of oxidative DNA damage in rat liver microsomes. N-Formyl-L-lysine has been shown to affect cell function by modifying histone proteins and oxidizing DNA.
