Description:

Palmityl stearate is a lipid with an ester linkage that has a phase transition temperature of about 30°C. It is an important ingredient in the manufacture of detergents and other surfactant-containing products, such as shampoos, soaps, and cosmetics. Palmityl stearate is used in these products because it has a high affinity for water molecules and therefore provides emulsification properties. The optimal concentration of palmityl stearate in detergent compositions is between 2% and 5%. This lipid also inhibits the growth of human pathogens, such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
