1-(Dimethylamino)-2-nitroethylene is a heterocycloalkyl compound that has the methyl group as its basic structure. It interacts with the mt2 receptor to produce its effects on the body. The binding of 1-(dimethylamino)-2-nitroethylene to mt2 receptors leads to an increase in cyclic AMP levels, which then stimulates protein kinase A and inhibits protein phosphatase 2A. This results in increased hepatic glycogenolysis and glucose uptake by muscle cells, which leads to a decrease in blood sugar levels. 1-(Dimethylamino)-2-nitroethylene also has been shown to interact with other receptors, such as alpha-adrenergic receptors and 5HT1a serotonin receptors.
