6,8-Dihydroxy-3-methyl-1H-isochromen-1-one is a heterodimer consisting of two subunits. The regulatory subunit binds to the DNA at the promoter site and recruits the transcription factors, which activate or repress the transcription of specific genes. 6,8-Dihydroxy-3-methyl-1H-isochromen-1-one has been shown to inhibit NFκB transcription in Dahlia pinnata endophytic fungus and miapaca2 cells. It also inhibits the production of cytokines in staphylococcus cells and has been shown to be effective against Verticillium dahliae when used in combination with other fungicides. 6,8 -Dihydroxy 3 methyl 1H isochromen 1 one has also been shown to have a dose dependent effect on pancreatic cancer cell lines.
