Description:

Flurenol-methyl ester is a growth regulator that is used in weed science to control the growth of plants. It works by inhibiting transport, which inhibits the uptake and transport of mineral nutrients. Flurenol-methyl ester also has acidic properties, which can cause the formation of 1-cyclopentene-1-carboxylic acid (1CPCA) and carbamic acid (CBM). These two compounds are then converted into organic acids that can be detected by chromatographic methods. The detection of these organic acids allows for the identification of plants treated with flurenol-methyl ester. Flurenol-methyl ester is a synthetic compound that was originally developed as an agriculturally useful herbicide. It acts as a competitive inhibitor to piperazine, which is an amino acid produced from choline and methionine in plants.
