Methyl Dehydroabietate is a natural compound found in plants. It is structurally similar to DHA, and has been shown to have biological properties that are similar to those of DHA. Methyl Dehydroabietate has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis by inhibiting their ability to make proteins needed for cellular division. Methyl dehydroabietate has also been shown to have synergistic effects with other bioactive phenols such as EGCG.
