Antimony sulphide black is a pentavalent to trivalent compound. It has been shown to cause pneumoconiosis, respiratory symptoms, diarrhoea and fatalities in humans. Antimony sulphide black can be used industrially as a pigment to reduce the visibility of smoke, but has also been shown to cause cancer in humans and animals. The chemical is carcinogenic and can cause lung cancer. There are documented cases of workers who were exposed to antimony sulphide black in the industrial workplace developing lung cancer. This chemical is toxic if inhaled or ingested and causes health risks for humans at low concentrations.
