Chetomin is a natural product that has been shown to have significant cytotoxic effects on tumor cells. It inhibits the proliferation of human osteosarcoma cells and induces apoptosis in the presence of hypoxia. Chetomin also has biological properties in humans, including inhibition of HIV-1 replication and an ability to increase the expression of chemoattractant protein. This natural product also inhibits anion radical scavenging, which may be responsible for its antitumor activity. Chetomin has also been shown to inhibit the activation of toll-like receptor 4, which may lead to chemoresistance.
